About Dhokra
Dhokra art, also known as Bell Metal craft, is one of the oldest crafts known to mankind since 2500 BC and prominently stands out in the relics found at Mohenjo-Daro, Harappa. Dhokra Art takes its name from the Dhokra/ Dokra tribe from Bastar, Chhattisgarh. Traditionally, it was used for statues of deities. Without losing its old glory, tribal artisans are creating beautiful decorative products reflecting their way of life, culture, and wild creatures in their complete majesty! Lost-wax casting technique is a lengthy process, and every piece of art is made from scratch. It goes through multiple stages, and it takes a minimum of 30-40 days to finish each piece. A slight variation in technique and designs is found in each of the states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, which have Dhokra Metal Craft Products adorned by one or all due to its elegant form and timeless appeal, and adorn the cozy households as well as lobbies of five-star hotels as well as institutions.
