This is a beautiful example of Kachani (Drawing Lines) and Bharni (Fill in colours) style of Madhubani painting. It originates from the Mithilanchal region of Bihar, India. A sketch is made freehand using a brush. Once colours are filled in, a nib dipped in acrylic colour is used to draw fine lines (textures in a shape). It takes a skilled artist to make a flawless painting which catches one’s imagination with a variety of fill in textures.
