FAQs

What is the speciality of Papier Mache Art?

Papier Mache is a traditional craft form the valley of Kashmir. As the name suggests, the objects are made from the paper pulp. Once dried, then the objects are hand painted.

Are Naqashi and Papier Mache crafts one and same?

Naqashi and Papier Mache are two different crafts practiced in the valley of Kashmir.
Papier Mache lierally means creating objects from Paper pulp, on the other hand, Naqashi means painting a design. The base object may be paper pulp products, wooden or metal objects.
Many a times, without understanding the difference, even the hand painted wooden or metal objects are marketed as Papier Mache craft which is undermining that craft.
