Tikuli Hand-painted serving tray from the hinterlands of India, Bihar. Tikuli is a traditional craft from Patna, Bihar, and is known for its intricate designs inspired by Madhubani paintings and bright colours. This beautiful tray has been decorated with an elaborate scene of a Sangeet Ceremony at a wedding.
Enamel paint is used to make the base material (MDF wood) heatproof and waterproof.

About Tikuli

Tikuli art form draws inspiration from Madhubani art, and it commonly depicts everyday chores of household women, auspicious occasions such as wedding ceremonies, and scenes from Brindavan
Women artisans from marginal incomes have found their place in society through financial independence. This craft helps about 600-800 artisan families in the Digha, Danapur, and Gai Ghat mahallas of Patna town, Bihar, become financially independent and live respectfully in society.
